On an otherwise sunny day on a 4G pitch CSStags1863 decided to take the frenetic approach to playing the game. Feeding into the hands of the opposition. In summary we were down 21-0 in the first half before we responded.
Simplicity being the name of the game kick to corner, line out, clean catch, maul drive and Albert (replacement prop) coming on and scoring with what seemed to be his first touch of the game. HALF TIME 21-5.
The second half resumed in the same vein with Maidenhead running in a sequence of tries, two incidents need to be highlighted from this half.
The first being the dislocated knee sustained by Albert Stoute from a tackle, the game was paused whilst he was treated. He did not resume, and we wish him a speedy recovery.
The second being the try we scored in the dying minutes of the game. I will say it again simplicity, working up the pitch and causing maidenhead to make errors and using the penalties wisely.. from the final line out, 5 metres out, Tom Proctor catches, maul is set, the ball is then released down the line with slick hands for Freddie Cracknell (15) to break a tackle and force himself over the line despite the attention of 3 defenders. Harry Vidler (replacement centre) steps up and converts… 54-12… the whistle blows.
