Nick Alway reports
It has not been a happy season for our winless West London rivals and indeed they had to endure an even more embarrassing recent experience in forfeiting their previous league game at home to Dorking.
They, did however, bring a plucky team to Duke's Meadows on Saturday and kept going to the end but the bonus point win for the Stags was never in any real doubt. The Swans have not had fond memories of their visits here for a while - remember the geese ! They could count themselves a little unlucky not to get on the score sheet themselves but - by understandably turning down opportunities to take pots at goal just to get on the scoresheet at the same time as encountering a home side determined to protect the integrity of its own try line at least even if the odd tackle further out was missed - the visitors found themselves between a rock and a hard place.
The Stags on the other hand - even with a number of absentees - were able to go through their full repertoire although not all the right notes were hit all the time by any means. Still, seven tries were registered including James Houstoun - again playing fly half 's - eighth of the season. In all 51 tries have been scored in our 13 games.
We have another home game next week against Tring who can be expected to be fiercely competitive as always despite, and no doubt because of their own lowly league position, and who put rather more points than we did on Staines themselves recently. At the season's half way mark the Stags have more league points (39) than in any of their previous seasons at this level.
