Last week CS had already secured the league and promotion, but having a couple of this season’s key players absent they were hoping to finish in style, particularly to mark the final league game for the club of centre Paddy O’halloran; CS did not disappoint.
The damage was done early on with first quarter tries from Adam Nixon (2) and Will Scott who also scored a second, later in the first half. The other two first half scores were from hooker Josh Forrester and left wing Pumulo Banda. Fly half Liam Cleary converted all six tries for a half time lead of 52-0. Full back Toby Guyatt scored the first of two second half tries, neither of which were converted, although CS did concede two converted penalties 52-14 being the final score. CS Captain Tom Proctor was presented with the league winner’s shield by Peter Baveystock Chairman of Middlesex RFU. The performance had indeed been a fine send off for Paddy O'halloran, and all at CS thank Paddy for his contribution and wish him well for the future. Afterwards CS were able to reflect on a successful season with 140 league tries scored, averaging at least 5 per match, and 24 league victories in 26 matches.
The season is not quite finished as this Saturday CS also feature in the Middlesex cup final which is being played at Chiswick RFC.
