CS Staghounds 2nd XV – Winners - London Counties & South Coast Premiership! Many congratulations to the Staghounds for sealing the league title yesterday with a win in their final game of the season! Travelling down to Dorking Rugby Club to play their ’A’ side 2nd XV, the boys played a thrilling ding-dong match to emerge victorious at the death. Down at half time 28-17 to the home side, the Staghounds stuck at it, and eventually took a slender lead into the last ten minutes. That swung back to a 33-31 Dorking lead with a minute to go. The boys could have sat back in the knowledge that their try bonus and losing bonus point would have earnt them the league title anyway, but that’s not the Stags spirit! A gritty push up-field into the opposition half saw a penalty awarded in front of the posts, and with the last kick of the game, Cam Thomas (fresh off the plane back from Australia) slotted home the kick for the final whistle to blow, and Staghounds emerge victorious 33-34. The crowd went wild (or at least some of the ‘golden oldies’ who travelled down to support the boys). A fantastic match, and thanks to Dorking for the full on competitive game. But well done again to the boys, coach Jay Henderson, physio Dylan Hopwood-Barsacq, and everyone involved with the Staghounds this fantastic season for finishing in style!
Tries: Luke Bowden, Liam Barton, Alex Edwards, Pantelis Stylianou, Dylan Lynch - Conversions: Luke Bowden (x2), Cam Thomas (x1)) - Penalty: Cam Thomas (x1)

Also attached are some stats from the league, that prove what a great run the Staghounds have had this season.
This coming week – Saturday 5th April 2025. No 1st XV fixture yesterday as it was a break week, but next Saturday the CS Stags 1863 play their final Regional 1, South Central, level 5 rugby fixture against Old Alleynians RFC, away in Dulwich. More details to follow in the week about kick off time and venue, but do pencil it in to come down and support the boys if you can. Once again, the first team hope to crown what has been a brilliant season, and a win would see us end the campaign with an excellent third place. Let’s make it happen! C’mon you Stags!
